TRIME Auger Set for 44-mm Access Tubes Installation

A special auger set for TRIME access tube installation in homogeneous soils. The system offers the best compromise between achieving a close contact and a minimum of soil compression.

The screw auger is used to drill out soil inside the access tube. After the soil is removed, the tube can be easily hammered into the soil with the tubes cutting head cutting the leading edge of the tube as it enters the soil. This cycle is repeated until the tube is installed to the appropriate level. The internal steel protection tube is then removed and the access tube is sealed with an expandable bottom stopper and top cap. There is a neoprene gasket to seal the soil-tube interface for rain.

With the described auger equipment, it is possible to set the access tubes directly into homogenous soils without pre-boring. The more skeletal the soil becomes, the more difficult the sinking gets. In this case, we suggest pre-boring with an Edelman auger or pneumatic soil-sampling device prior to installing the tubes. Other methods have also been used successfully.
